Hostos Review/ Revista Hostosiana no. 16

Hostos Review/Revista Hostosiana no. 16, Escritura contemporánea queer en inglés y español en las Américas/ Contemporary Queer Writing in English and Spanish in the Americas was published on October 2, 2020.

Composed and prefaced by guest editors Dr. Claudia Salazar Jiménez and Dr. Larry La Fountain-Stokes, the issue includes poetry, fiction, and chronicle in English or Spanish by eighteen contributing authors from across the Americas: Achy Obejas, Charles Rice-González, Clara Inés Giraldo Mejía, Gabby De Cicco, Gisela Kozak, Johan Mijail, Juan Pablo Sutherland, Laura Arnés, Mariana Docampo, Odette Alonso, Raquel Gutierrez, Raquel Salas Rivera, Rigoberto Gonzalez, SaSa Testa, Susana Chávez-Silverman, Urayoán Noel, Vero Ferrari and Yolanda Arroyo Pizarro.

The issue was conceived of as a space for authors and scholars to engage in a much-needed trans-American dialogue about what it means to write queer/cuir literature nowadays in Latin America, the Caribbean, and the United States.

On the cover, the remarkable piece of photographic artwork, “Sylvia Rivera (with Christina Hayworth and Julia Murray,” was donated to the journal by renowned Puerto Rican photographer Luis Carle. The photograph is also held at the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery.

The issue can be read online here.
